The Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative, part of Business West, has appointed Andrew Wells as Initiative manager to assist director Ian Larrard in its day to day business activities and to help drive new member recruitment and retention.
Andrew leaves his role as enterprise co-ordinator at Swindon Borough Council, where he worked in partnership with local businesses, schools and further education providers on a jointly funded programme by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and Swindon and Wiltshire LEP to enhance the employability of 16-24 year olds.
Prior to Swindon Borough Council, Andrew worked for Nationwide, Swindon’s largest employer, in their project management function.
Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, Ian Larrard, director of Business West in Swindon and Wiltshire, said:
“Andrew brings an intimate knowledge of the local business environment in Swindon, having played a key role in co-ordinating efforts between a variety of local stakeholders to improve the skills and employability of young people in the town.
"Andrew’s connections to Swindon Borough Council and Swindon and Wiltshire LEP are central to the role of the Initiative Manager, as we continue our work to develop a joined up strategy for the local economy that engages key local players from across the public and private sectors.”
