Hannovermesse is taking place in Hannover this week. With over 6,500 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors, it is one of the largest industrial trade shows in Europe, and draws attendees from over 100 countries across the globe.

Since new Brexit rules came into place at the beginning of 2021, the process of moving goods between the UK and the EU has grown complex.  As a result, many UK-based exhibitors now use ATA Carnets to take their display stands and trade show goods to countries in the EU. ATA Carnets allow exhibitors to move their display stands and commercial samples temporarily into countries on the ATA Carnet scheme without having to pay import duty or tax.

Many of the exhibitors at Hannovermesse will have used an ATA Carnet to take their goods to the show.

What are the benefits of an ATA Carnet?

  • ATA Carnets simplify customs procedures and reduce border delays, making travel with display stands and equipment more efficient and straightforward
  • ATA Carnets help you to avoid paying import tax and duties, making your journey more affordable
  • ATA Carnets are valid for up to a year, and within this period you are able to import and export your exhibition and display equipment as many times as you need to

Business West works with exhibitors throughout the year to facilitate their trips to trade shows in the EU and further afield. Our ATA Carnet team is also preparing for upcoming European trade shows taking place later this year, including Viva Technology (14th – 17th June) and Natexpo (22nd – 24th October) in Paris, and Medica (13th – 16th November) in Düsseldorf.

If you are planning to take your display stands and commercial samples to international trade shows this year, you might want to consider obtaining an ATA Carnet to do so.
