Fay Daniels is a Marketing Manager working with the Skills team to promote the Workforce for the Future programme.

We met with Fay to find out more about her current role, how she helps to promote the Workforce for the Future programme and what she enjoys doing outside of work.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your career background?

I grew up in Cheltenham and then moved to Gloucester after studying Journalism, Film and Media for three years at Cardiff University. I have worked in marketing for 12 years, in a variety of different industries, including law and recruitment. I joined Business West in 2017 as a Marketing Executive and am now Marketing Manager for our public sector contracts.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love the variety of working in marketing. One day I could be designing flyers, the next I am making changes to our website, filming a video or writing a case study. It’s great to keep you busy and you never get bored!

What projects are you currently working on?

I currently work with the skills team at Business West on Workforce for the Future. We deliver three strands of this project – Workforce Development Planning, HR Support and the Adult Social Care Workforce Resilience programme.

The skills team can offer businesses in the West of England region support by identifying current and future skills needs, connecting them with local colleges and universities and finding relevant training, as well as HR Support in the form of monthly workshops and 1-2-1 expert advice.

Our Adult Social Care programme is aimed at organisations in the adult social care sector and again offers access to resources, inspirational workshops and 1-2-1 business support.

What motivates you in your day-to-day work?

I like to know that I’m helping to make a difference. This can be in the form of knowing the support we offer as Business West can really help businesses to grow and develop – but I also like to think that the work I do as Marketing Manager, alongside Dan, who is Marketing Executive, can help the team connect with the right businesses, show off our work in creative ways and ensure we meet project targets.

What is the best way for businesses to find out more about how Workforce for the Future can help them?

We’ve got lots of information on our website about the different support we offer, as well as case studies from businesses we have already helped. We’re also very active on the Business West social media channels, so follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter and you’ll find blogs, videos and case studies about the kind of work our team are doing with businesses.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and I’m a big fan of live music and netball. I’m also an animal lover and currently a guinea pig mum to Fred and Ted!
