Gloucestershire has something of an enviable reputation when it comes to winning Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

Companies in the county have won more of these prestigious wards than any other county in the UK-quite an achievement. They were formerly, of course known, as the Queen’s Awards for Industry.

The latest awards announced today more than illustrate the breadth of innovation and skills of companies in Gloucestershire.

One of these winners is no stranger to the awards - Adey professional heating solutions, which scooped the award in 2012.

This is an amazing company literally started in a garden shed by its founder, Chris Adey and now dominating their market.

Adey market a system which keeps central heating systems clean and resilient - it is now installed in over 3 million homes throughout Europe.

Gloucester-based Advanced Insulation is another winner in this year’s awards. In 2012, the company was awarded the award for International Trade and in 2013, the award for Innovation.

The company’s latest Queen’s Award is for International Trade - timely with the focus on Brexit and the need to export more.

They are a flag waver for exporting in the South West and have been ranked 30th in the seventh annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200.

Advanced Insulation’s sales have more than doubled to £46million in the two years to 2015 boosted by growth in Korea, Angola and Brazil.

Robert Welch Designs has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

Based at picturesque Chipping Camden in the North Cotswolds, the company has an international reputation for fine cutlery.

They employ more than 70 people with two studio shops-one in Chipping Camden’s High Street and the other in Bath’s city centre.

These Queen’s Awards, announced on the Monarch’s  birthday today, allows the winners to carry a Royal crest recognising those which excel in international trade, innovation or sustainable development.
